UNICORE 5.0

The “University Corridors for Refugees - UNICORE 5.0” project is promoted by UNHCR in cooperation with Caritas Ambrosiana, the Waldensian Deacony, the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, and some Italian Universities. 
It aims to increase opportunities for refugees currently residing in Kenya, Niger, Nigeria, South Africa, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe to continue their higher education in Italy.

The University of Milano-Bicocca awards 2 scholarships worth € 5.000,00 each, accommodation and meals  to candidates who are refugees and have been admitted to a Master’s degree programme delivered in English.

Following deadline extension, applications may be sent from 3rd April 2023 at 12.00 (midday - UTC+1)  to 19th May 2023 at 12.00 (midday, UTC+1) .

Students must submit the following documentation:

MANDATORY DOCUMENTS

  1. Application form i.e. Annex 1
  2. CV
  3. A valid copy of the Refugee Identity card issued in agreement with UNHCR or the PoR Car
  4. Certificate proving that the qualification required for admission to the degree course has been obtained 
  5. Certification of the list of examinations passed, including marks
  6. Any other document required for admission to the chosen degree course

NON-MANDATORY DOCUMENTS

  1. Motivational Letter (Maximum two A4 pages)
  2. References from a supervisor or advisor
  3. GPA certification, either per semester or cumulative 

The scholarship is available for one of the 8 Master Degree Programmes taught in English at the University of Milano-Bicocca:

To verify if you are eligible, please read carefully the admission criteria.

 

The selection process is divided into two stages:

Stage 1: Assessment of documentation 
Stage 2: online interview 

At the end of the first assessment session, a merit list will be drawn up, and only the first 10 candidates will be eligible for the interview stage. In the event of a tie, the youngest candidate takes precedence. 

Candidates admitted to the second stage will be notified by e-mail. The final ranking list will be published on this page. 

All candidates admitted to stage two will have to attend an interview with the selection board. Technical and educational skills and English language proficiency will be assessed during the interview.

Online interviews will be scheduled from May 22nd 2023. The day and time of the interview will be communicated directly to candidates by email and published on this page. 

  • 3rd April  - 19th May 2023 – Application phase;
  • On 6th and 8thJune 2023 – Online individual interviews; 
  • Within 10th July – Publication of the selected candidates’ list;  
  • Within seven days from the publication of the list  – Selected candidates have to accept their scholarship (failure to reply will constitute automatic forfeiture of the grant; in the event that one or both of the winners decline the benefit, the University will proceed to move down the list and award the scholarship to the next eligible candidate).
