The University Corridors for Refugees - UNICORE program is coordinated by UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, and made possible through collaboration with partners such as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Caritas Italiana, Diaconia Valdese, Centro Astalli, Fondazione Finanza Etica, and Gandhi Charity.
The University of Milano-Bicocca has been participating in the project since its beginning in 2021; for the academic year 2024/25, it offers 2 scholarships worth €7,000 each, including accommodation and meals , to refugee candidates admitted to an English-taught master's degree program.
UNICORE 6.0 aims to increase opportunities for refugees currently residing in Kenya, Mozambique, Niger, Nigeria, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, and Zimbabwe by offering scholarships to continue their higher education in Italy.
Following deadline extension, applications may be sent from 1rd March 2024 at 12.00 (midday - UTC+1) to 15th April 2024 at 12.00 (midday, UTC+1) .

To verify if you are eligible, please read carefully the admission criteria.
The selection process is divided into two stages:
- Stage 1: Assessment of documentation
- Stage 2: online interview
At the end of the first assessment session, a merit list will be drawn up, and only the first 10 candidates will be eligible for the interview stage. In the event of a tie, the youngest candidate takes precedence.
Candidates admitted to the second stage will be notified by e-mail. The final ranking list will be published on this page.
All candidates admitted to stage two will have to attend an interview with the selection board. Technical and educational skills and English language proficiency will be assessed during the interview.
Online interviews will be scheduled from May 22nd 2023. The day and time of the interview will be communicated directly to candidates by email and published on this page.
- 1st March - 15th April 2024 – Application phase;
- Starting from 2nd May 2024 – Online individual interviews;
- Starting from 3rd June – Publication of the selected candidates’ list;
- Within seven days from the publication of the list – Selected candidates have to accept their scholarship (failure to reply will constitute automatic forfeiture of the grant; in the event that one or both of the winners decline the benefit, the University will proceed to move down the list and award the scholarship to the next eligible candidate).
