Erasmus+ is the EU's programme to support education, training, youth and sport in Europe. Set to last until 2020, Erasmus+ does not just have opportunities for students. Merging seven prior programmes, it has opportunities for a wide variety of individuals and organisations.
The aim of the programme is to contribute to the Europe 2020 strategy for growth, jobs, social equity and inclusion, as well as the aims of ET2020, the EU's strategic framework for education and training.
Erasmus+ has opportunities for people of all ages, helping them develop and share knowledge and experience at institutions and organisations in different countries.
Developing these opportunities within the University of Milano-Bicocca is a unique experience and we are truly pleased to welcome students from all the Partner universities as our own.
The exchange programme allows students from institutions in non-European partner countries to experience mobility within our university. You can find the list of partner institutions here.
Exchange students have the same rights and obligations than all the other mobility programmes. They benefit from free campus insurance and all services offered to unimib students.
If you were selected by your Home University for a mobility period the first thing to do is to wait until your Home University nominates you officially to our university.
Once you get nominated it is really important that you wait for further instructions. Please do not proceed on your own as enrolment instructions may be different from year to year.
Know that the nomination period’s deadline is May 20th and you will be contacted with application instructions after that.
Application period goes from June 1st to July 15th but you will receive specific dates for every step on your application message.
We contact you by mail so make sure to check your email account often.
If you have any questions the official chanel for communications will be email@example.com
You will be required to present your Learning Agreement only after arrival. You can start preparing it before but keep in mind that you will discover the exact schedules just a few weeks before the beginning of classes so you will probably need to make some changes after your arrival.
For specific information check below or send us an email.
The academic year is structured in two semesters: winter and spring semester. The official dates of start and end are:
Winter semester: October 1st – February 28th
Spring semester: March 1st – July 15th
These dates include the exams session which is different for each faculty. The dates do not include the Italian language course which normally takes place one month before the beginning of each semester.
The University of Milano-Bicocca offers different options for students looking for accommodation through their mobility period. Please visit the services website to find more information about it. Remember that the University does not cover the cost of accomodation and that you must start looking for a solution as soon as possible.
If you need further support feel free to contact ESN Bicocca.
Students who come to study on a mobility basis should either have a B1 level certificate of Italian language or B2 of English language.
If you do not have this level or you are unable to provide a certificate, you are required to attend the Italian language course that is held at the beginning of each semester. If not, the application for mobility will be rejected.
Registration for the Italian course is done by filling the obligatory questionnaire that you find in the Erasmus application form.
An entry test will assess the level of Italian and distribute students in the most suitable class.
The University offers courses for A1, A2 and B2.
For further information, please.contact the Bicocca Language Centre at firstname.lastname@example.org or visit the website.

In order to help you achieve a successful mobility period, the University of Milano-Bicocca has organized different events to welcome you.
It is one of the most important steps of your mobility. If you don’t attend the Italian language course, it is first day counted for your mobility period. You will meet your Bicocca University angel and the staff and teachers who will explain to you all the mobility procedures.
At the beginning you may find all the university platforms a bit confusing that’s why we created this moment in order to learn together how to take the most of every platform. In this kind of event, our Bicocca University Angels will explain to you how to access to the different platforms, how to use your credentials and when, how to find your subjects and schedules and more!
Certificate of Arrival
If your University required it, we will sign it for you. Not all the Universities ask for it, some will use the dates reported on the transcript of records.
If your university asks for it then, you must bring it with you at the Welcome Day. During the registration at the event we will collect it and we will give it back to you at the end. Remember to fill it with your personal information before we sign it.
You must upload your Learning Agreement (LA) on the Erasmus e-learning page, the online platform, of your Department. We will show you how to do it in the “How-to Sessions” at your arrival.
Remember that your LA must indicate:
- The name and code of the courses
- The signatures of both coordinators (your university and Bicocca)
You can find the codes for each subject on e-learning, under the name of the courses.
You will have one month from the beginning of the lessons to change your Leaning Agreement. Remember, if you change your Learning Agreement, you will have to upload it again on e-Learning with the new signatures of both coordinators (you should upload the Before the mobility and During the mobility sections).
