Equality Committee

The University has set up an Equality Committee to ensure equal opportunity, promote the wellbeing of people who work at the university and fight discrimination. Its goal is to promote and take tangible measures to implement the principles of equality and parity for all those who work and study at the University.

The Equality Committee's role is to protect and promote the dignity of people within the work environment and to guarantee and improve working conditions. The Committee therefore promotes equal opportunities through measures designed to prevent and fight all forms of discrimination and moral or psychological violence against workers, particularly where this is motivated by gender, sexual orientation, ethnic orientation, religion, personal and political beliefs, disability and age.

The Committee suggests appropriate action to remove such discriminatory factors, promoting activities designed to provide information and educate the community in order to build a cultural climate at the University that enshrines the principles and values of equal opportunities. It contributes to optimising work productivity, improving performance efficiency by promoting respect for the principles of equal opportunity and organisational wellbeing. To this end, the Committee may present the Academic Senate and the Board of Governors will documents and proposals on these matters.

The composition of the Committee must reflect the composition of contracted personnel and personnel working for the University on the basis of public law. It must ensure equal representation of both genders. The members are selected from persons who have accrued appropriate preparation, experience and attitude in similar bodies. Members are appointed by Decree of the Rector.

The rules for appointing members of the Committee, the duration of the mandate, the specific tasks and the procedures associated with the running of the Committee are set out in the University's general regulations, in accordance with relevant legislation.
