Equal opportunities
The CUG promotes equal opportunities through training and organisational initiatives designed to develop individual potential and value diversity. To this end, the Committee produces the Gender Equality Report and implements the measures set out in the University’s Three-Year Positive Action Plan. In collaboration with the Equal Opportunities Observatory, it also contributes to implementing the initiatives outlined in the Gender Equality Plan.
Female leadership, initiatives to increase women’s participation in STEM, events open to the wider community to promote a culture free from stereotypes and prejudice, and services to help balance study, work and family life: these are the measures through which the University of Milano-Bicocca has achieved gender equality certification. This recognition acknowledges the University’s tangible commitment to promoting equality and creating a fair and inclusive study and working environment.
Milano-Bicocca is among the first Italian universities to obtain this important certification, based on the UNI/PdR 125:2022 reference practice for gender equality management systems, which sets out criteria, parameters and operational requirements for certification in businesses and organisations.
Organisational wellbeing
The CUG promotes the wellbeing of all members of the University of Milano-Bicocca community through initiatives developed in collaboration with the University’s Equal Opportunities Observatory and the Organisational Development, Training and Welfare Unit.
The CUG’s activities focus on the following areas:
- Supporting a balance between personal and working life.
- Promoting care-friendly policies within the University.
University services
- Staff psychological support service: offers all technical and administrative staff access to psychological consultations aimed at improving quality of life within the University.
- Student psychological counselling service: provides a space for students to explore and gain clarity on personal difficulties that may be affecting their progress in their studies and preventing them from realising their full potential.
- Welfare: provides benefits and services relating to social activities, recreation, healthcare, pensions, insurance, education and training for employees, collaborators and students.
- CUS Bicocca: manages the University’s sporting activities and organises events, tournaments and trips. Students and staff can take part in sport at a range of levels. A Dual Career programme is also available for students involved in competitive sport.
