UNICORE

The University Corridors for Refugees – UNICORE program is coordinated by UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, and is made possible through collaboration with partners such as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Caritas Italiana, Diaconia Valdese, Centro Astalli, Fondazione Finanza Etica, and Gandhi Charity.

The general objective of the University Corridors for Refugees – UNICORE 8.0 project is to promote the right of refugees to higher education by creating educational corridors in Ethiopia, Malawi, Kenya, Mozambique, Niger, Nigeria, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, Zimbabwe, and India.

The University of Milano-Bicocca has participated in the project since its second edition in 2021. For the 2026/27 academic year, it is offering two scholarships worth €4,200 each, which include room and board, to refugee candidates admitted to a Master’s degree program taught in English.

Applications can be submitted from March 2, 2025, to April 17, 2026. Students must submit their application, including all documents required by the application form, through the website dedicated to the project: https://universitycorridors.unhcr.it/

To verify if you are eligible, please read carefully the admission criteria.

 

The selection process is divided into two stages:

Stage 1: Assessment of documentation 
Stage 2: online interview 

At the end of the first assessment session, a merit list will be drawn up, and only the first 7 candidates will be eligible for the interview stage. In the event of a tie, the youngest candidate takes precedence. 

Candidates admitted to the second stage will be notified by e-mail. The final ranking list will be published on this page. 

All candidates admitted to stage two will have to attend an interview with the selection board. Technical and educational skills and English language proficiency will be assessed during the interview.

Interviews will be scheduled from 12 May 2025 and will take place online. The day and time of the interview will be communicated directly to candidates by email and published on this page.
