To enhance the skills and competencies in Robotics and Intelligent Machines distributed throughout the country, create fertile synergies between disciplines, universities, research institutions, and companies, and consolidate the excellent Italian positioning on the international scene, a unifying cultural project is necessary.
This cultural project is carried out by the Ph.D. program of national interest in Robotics and Intelligent Machines (DRIM).
DRIM brings together all the research and training areas aimed at studying, developing, and constructing innovative robotic systems and intelligent machines. The objective is to form a large community of students who develop their research themes in a shared context, integrated on a geographic, multidisciplinary, and interdisciplinary scale.
The National PhD Programme in Artificial Intelligence (AI), PhD-AI.it, is about a topic central to the digital transformation of society. It aims to mobilize the national community for a PhD in AI at the highest scientific level, such as to boost research and industrial and social innovation in the country.
The PhD-AI.it is implemented, with the coordination of the CNR and the University of Pisa, with the establishment of 5 federated PhDs in AI, organized by a lead university and a large consortium of universities and research institutions. The doctorates have a common base focused on foundational aspects of AI and 5 areas of specialization.
