Venice International University (VIU) is a consortium of universities and institutions located on the island of San Servolo in the Venetian lagoon. Founded in 1995, VIU brings together universities and organisations from around the world to promote the internationalisation of higher education and cultural exchange.

VIU's Mission

VIU's primary mission is to provide academic and training opportunities to students and scholars seeking to broaden their cultural and academic horizons. It encourages intercultural dialogue and the development of global skills through a wide range of academic programmes, research, and continuous training.

Programmes Offered

  1. Academic Programmes: Joint activities developed by member universities through VIU's Academic Council. These activities complement the curricular studies conducted at universities, and students can integrate them into their academic path.
  2. Globalisation Programme: An interdisciplinary programme aimed at undergraduate students, with courses taught by professors from VIU's partner universities. Students explore global themes such as sustainability, ethics, cultural diversity, and technological innovation.
  3. PhD Academy: A series of intensive workshops for doctoral candidates and young researchers, designed to foster academic exchange and interdisciplinarity.
  4. Summer School: Summer programmes on specific topics, including climate change, sustainable leadership, and cultural diplomacy, with practical and academic approaches.

VIU is open to students, faculty, and professionals interested in exploring the opportunities offered by its programmes.

VIU publishes Erasmus+ calls for mobility of students and staff to member universities. Consult the published calls for details, including requirements for students, professors, and staff from the Italian universities in VIU's mobility consortium
