Biography

Valeria Vadalà (VV) was born in Reggio Calabria in 1982. She received the M.S. degree (with honors) in Electronic Engineering from the “Mediterranea” University of Reggio Calabria, Reggio Calabria, Italy, in 2006 and the Ph.D. degree in Information Engineering at University of Ferrara in 2010.
From 2010 to 2017 she was with the Engineering Department, University of Ferrara, as a Post-Doctoral Researcher.
In 2013 she was invited to spend a period as Visiting Fellow at the Telecommunication and Microwave Laboratory (TELEMIC) at the Engineering department of KU Leuven University in Belgium, in the framework of a collaboration with Prof. Dominique Schreurs, who is in charge of the microwave laboratory.
From 2018 to 2020 she was an Assistant Professor at the Engineering department of Ferrara University.
From 2020 to 2021 she was Senior researcher at University of Rome Tor Vergata.
From 2021 she is Assistant Professor with the Physic Department of Milan-Bicocca University.

Since 2007 she made teaching activity as Professor in charge in the framework of bachelor and master courses as Analog Electronics, Electronic Instrumentation and Measurements and Electronic Devices at the University of Ferrara and University of Milano Bicocca. She was Tutor or co-tutor for over 45 bachelor and master thesis.
She received the national scientific qualification to function as Associate Professor (first call 2016) in Electronics.

She has co-authored over 76 publications in international journals and conferences. Her research activity is mainly related to the development of novel measurement systems for the characterization of microwave electron devices and to the implementation of new nonlinear models of electron devices accounting for low-frequency dispersion phenomena.

She presented her research activities at the most important conferences of the microwave engineering community, as European Microwave Integrated Circuits Conference (EuMiC), and International Microwave Symposium (IMS).
She has been invited to present her research results on electron device characterization and modelling at the most important conferences of the microwave engineering community:

  • 2018 Workshop Speaker, European Microwave Conference (EuMC), Invited Talk “GaN HEMT Characterization and Modeling for micro- and mm-Wave Power Amplifier Applications,” Madrid, Spain
  • 2021 Invited Speaker, International Conference on Advanced Technologies, Systems and Services in Telecommunications (TELSIKS). Invited paper “Advanced Measurement Techniques for Nonlinear Modelling of GaN HEMTs: From L-band to mm-Wave applications” Nis, Serbia
  • 2022 Workshop Speaker, International Microwave Symposium, “Measuring GaN HEMT performance degradation under nonlinear dynamic operation” Denver, Colorado USA

She is member of IEEE and “Microwave Theory and Techniques Society” (MTTs). She is a member of the Technical Programme Committee of the ESSxxRC2022. She serves as reviewer for the international conference “European Microwave Conference (EuMC).”
Since 2021 serves as Associate Editor with International Journal of Numerical Modelling: Electronic Networks, Devices and Fields (Wiley).
She also serves as reviewer of the following international journals:
IEEE: Transactions on Microwave Theory and Techniques, Microwave and Wireless Components Letters, Transactions on Electron Devices. Elsevier: Microelectronics Journal and Solid State Electronics. Wiley: International Journal of RF and Microwave Computer-Aided Engineering and International Journal of Numerical Modelling: Electronic Networks, Devices and Fields. Cambridge University press: International Journal of Microwave and Wireless Technologies
