The University of Milano-Bicocca is throwing its support behind the “STOP CORONAVIRUS: help us stop it!” fundraising campaign, which was launched by the Italian Cancer Research League [LILT] in aid of the San Gerardo Hospital in Monza and the Milan Cancer Institute.
The university has also decided to do its bit to help the healthcare system as it fights coronavirus through another charitable initiative. In just four days, the University of Milano-Bicocca community raised €30,000 for the San Gerardo Hospital thanks to technical and administrative staff, lecturers and researchers donating a portion of their salary to the facility.
The money will be used to purchase equipment for intensive and sub-intensive care at the hospital in Monza, which the university works with around research, teaching and care.
“The Milano-Bicocca community has decided to get involved by supporting the fundraising campaign in aid of the San Gerardo Hospital in Monza and the Italian Cancer Institute - and we’d like to invite as many people as possible to support the campaign. Every day, our healthcare services are being put under increasing strain. However, with this initiative, we can make sure that hospitals can save more lives and ensure continuity of care for more vulnerable cancer patients. This is a hugely important battle - and one that we will only win if we stick together,” said University of Milano Bicocca Rector Giovanna Iannantuoni.
