Università degli Studi di Milano-Bicocca has today awarded an Honorary Master’s Degree in Marketing and Global Markets to Giuseppe Marotta, President and CEO of FC Internazionale Milano.
The ceremony took place in the University’s Aula Magna, in the presence of Rector Giovanna Iannantuoni, Flavio Gnecchi, President of the Coordinating Committee of the Master’s Degree in Marketing and Global Markets, and Lucia Visconti Parisio, the Rector’s Delegate for University Sport.
The prestigious honour was awarded on the proposal of the Department of Economics, Management and Statistics DEMS of the University.
“Over more than forty years of his career,” the motivation reads, “Giuseppe Marotta has successfully combined sporting excellence and economic sustainability, leading sports clubs to success while promoting virtuous models of business management. Particularly significant is his commitment to enhancing both human and sporting capital, not only by building competitive teams but also by promoting educational projects for young athletes — concrete examples of integrating sport and education.
Giuseppe Marotta is a key figure in the renewal of Italian football, and his work fully embodies the values of our degree programme, making an exemplary contribution to the development of managerial, marketing and communication skills within the global sports sector.”
“Our University awards Honorary Degrees to individuals who have made significant contributions in their field,” said Rector Giovanna Iannantuoni. “Giuseppe Marotta has distinguished himself over the years as a leading figure in both management and sport. His vision and ability to innovate organisational models can serve as a source of inspiration for those preparing to face future challenges.”
“Receiving an Honorary Master’s Degree from such a prestigious institution as the University of Milano-Bicocca is a great honour, which I accept with deep gratitude,” said Giuseppe Marotta. “This recognition is not only a testament to my long professional career, but also a tribute to the cultural and social value of football, and a reaffirmation of the importance of competence, education and innovation.
I dedicate this honour to all those with whom I have shared my professional journey over almost fifty years, convinced that the greatest achievements always stem from teamwork and a shared vision.”
“Sport is a fully fledged global industry and an interconnected ecosystem that interacts with a wide range of sectors,” added Lucia Visconti Parisio. “Giuseppe Marotta is an undisputed leader in this world, and with this Honorary Degree we also celebrate the role of sport in contributing to the country’s development and the wellbeing of its citizens.”
