The University of Milano-Bicocca ranks in the global top 100 in two subjects in the new edition of ShanghaiRanking’s Global Ranking of Academic Subjects (GRAS) 2026, published on 15 September.
ShanghaiRanking’s Global Ranking of Academic Subjects analyses around 20,000 subject rankings each year, covering approximately 2,000 universities across around 100 countries and regions. The assessment takes into account factors including the presence of outstanding researchers and academics, scientific output, the quality and impact of publications, and the level of international collaboration.
Milano-Bicocca’s best result is in Public Administration, which ranks 51-75 worldwide and fourth in Italy. Another important result was achieved in Statistics, ranked 76-100 worldwide and between second and fourth nationally.
Overall, 19 Milano-Bicocca subjects are included in the 2026 ranking, confirming the University’s presence across a broad range of scientific fields.
Other significant results include Mathematics, ranked 101-150, and Remote Sensing, Clinical Medicine and Physics, all ranked between 151 and 200 worldwide.
The 201-300 band includes Nursing, Energy Science & Engineering, Public Health, Psychology, Earth Sciences, Economics, Pharmacy & Pharmaceutical Sciences and Medical Technology. These are followed by Atmospheric Science and Artificial Intelligence in the 301-400 band, and Chemistry, Materials Science & Engineering and Human Biological Sciences between 401 and 500.
