Milano-Bicocca students graduate earlier, and nine out of ten are in employment one year after obtaining their degree. This is the profile of Bachelor’s and Master’s graduates outlined in the recently presented 2026 AlmaLaurea Report.
The Survey on Graduates’ Employment Status involved a total of 8,004 graduates from the University of Milano-Bicocca. The data focus on the performance of first- and second-cycle graduates who completed their studies in 2024 and were interviewed one year after graduation, and on second-cycle graduates who completed their studies in 2020 and were interviewed five years later. At national level, the 2026 AlmaLaurea survey involved 700,000 graduates from 81 universities for the analysis of employment status and more than 335,000 graduates for the analysis of graduate profiles.
With regard to graduate profiles, the age at graduation is particularly noteworthy: 23.9 years, more than one year below the national figure of 25.2 years for first-cycle graduates. Similarly, Master’s graduates complete their studies at an average age of 26.8 years, compared with a national average of 27.9. The overall average age at graduation is therefore 25.2 years, confirming a difference of one year compared with the average of the universities included in the survey, which is 26.3 years.
«Almost eight out of ten Bicocca graduates had work experience during their studies, compared with around seven out of ten nationally,» also emphasises Sonia Migliorati, Pro-Rector for Guidance and Placement at Milano-Bicocca. «In addition to demonstrating the University’s focus on integrating study with work experience, this may support employability and the acquisition of transferable skills.»
Among Bachelor’s graduates who do not continue their studies, the employment rate one year after graduation is 86.4 per cent, compared with a national average of 81.4 per cent: approximately nine out of ten recent graduates. This positive figure is reflected in the situation of Master’s graduates, whose employment rate is even more clearly above the national figure: 87.7 per cent compared with 80.8 per cent.
The AlmaLaurea Report also presents a figure that continues to improve, confirming the quality of Milano-Bicocca’s entire educational offering: the percentage of Master’s graduates in employment five years after graduation. In 2025, this stood at 96.6 per cent for two-year Master’s graduates and 97.6 per cent for single-cycle Master’s graduates, compared with a national average of 94.4 per cent. In 2024, the employment rate among Milano-Bicocca Master’s graduates was 92.3 per cent, including 92.5 per cent for two-year Master’s graduates and 91.6 per cent for single-cycle Master’s graduates.
«Bicocca graduates not only record employment levels that are consistently above the national average as early as one year after graduation, maintaining this advantage over the medium to long term,» adds Pro-Rector Migliorati, «but they also move rapidly into stable forms of employment, with 61.7 per cent holding permanent contracts five years after graduation, a figure above the national rate.»
