A bilateral meeting between representatives of Tsinghua University and representatives of the University of Milano-Bicocca was held at the Rectorate of the University of Milan Bicocca on July 26.
During the meeting, a mutual interest emerged in starting an intense collaboration both for teaching activities, with possible exchanges of both teachers and students, mainly doctoral students, and for research activities, directing the initial collaborations towards the microelectronics sector, and with a view to expanding other lines of research of mutual interest. In the coming months, precisely with the aim of examining in detail possible forms of collaboration, some Bicocca teachers will visit Beijing.
During the meeting the following were present for Tsinghua University, Li Yuhong (Secretary General of CIDIH, Professor of Dept. of Energy and Power Engineering), Chen Jinxi (Deputy Director of CIDIH, Associate Dean of Office of International Affairs, Associate Professor of School of Architecture), Shen Yuan (Council Director of the Dept. of Electronic Engineering), Liu Xiang, Director for European Affairs of CIDIH and Gao Ruowen (Program Manager for Educational and Scholarly Affairs of China-Italy Design Innovation Hub).
For Bicocca University, Gabriella Pasi (Vice Rector for International Relations), Giuseppe Gorini (Director of the Department of Physics), Andrea Baschirotto (Director of the Microelectronics group of the Department of Physics), Maurizio Acciarri (Professor of the Department of Materials Science), Agnese Cofler (Head of the International Affairs Division), Simona Maraboli (Head of International Relations Office) and Marzia Spiniello (International Relations Office), participated in the meeting.
Finally, the guest speaker was Eng. Ernesto Colizzi, Director of the Development Center of the Pavia office of Infineon Technologies Italia.
Furthermore, during the Sustainable Innovation Workshop, which took place on July 25 at the China-Italy Design Innovation Hub (CIDIH) of Tsinghua University, Andrea Baschirotto, professor of Electronics at the Department of Physics of Bicocca and Director of the Microelectronics Group, presented the research activities of our University in the sector of Microelectronics, which range from electronics for Physics experiments, to biomedical, to Artificial Intelligence and Quantum Computing to industrial applications for Automotive.
The workshop was also attended by two PhD students, Lorenzo Pulcini and Lorenzo Stevenazzi from the Microelectronics Group, who presented their lines of research: the first concerns the development of very low power circuits for electric cars (in collaboration with Infineon Technologies), while the second is related to the creation of integrated circuits for Artificial Intelligence (in collaboration with Huawei).
