Self-Study Language Courses

NOTICE:

As of 2 February 2026, self-study language courses will be available on a new dedicated platform.

Until 21 January 2026, it will still be possible to access the Rosetta Stone portal free of charge using university credentials in order to complete courses already in progress. All progress will be deleted at midnight on 21 January 2026, and access to the platform using UniMiB accounts will no longer be possible.

The information below will be updated by 1 February 2026 to explain how to access the new platform.

The new platform will be available from 2 February 2026 to 1 February 2027.

Courses can be accessed through the ALTISSIA PORTAL.

To log in, users must use their UniMiB email credentials, with an address ending in “@campus.unimib.it” or “@unimib.it”.

The first login can be completed using either a computer or a smartphone. In the latter case, the official Altissia app must be downloaded onto the device.

Users can choose from eight available languages. After selecting a language, they will be asked to complete a short questionnaire so that the learning experience can be tailored to their individual needs. The system will then provide a language placement test.

Users can change their selected language independently at any time.

To make full use of the learning materials, users need headphones and a microphone.

PLEASE NOTE: Self-study courses do NOT provide any certificate valid to obtain ECTS, either after the initial placement test or upon completion of the self-study programme.

To obtain the Open Badge certificate and the three ECTS credits awarded for language proficiency, students must take and pass the official language proficiency test in the university language laboratory.
