The new academic year 2023/2024 has officially begun with the inauguration ceremony held this morning in the Aula Magna of the University of Milano - Bicocca.

After the results achieved in the first mission (teaching and higher education), the second (research) and the third (all scientific, technological and cultural transfer activities), the University of Milano-Bicocca is now looking to the future, aiming to strengthen its impact in the fourth mission, which refers to the University's social responsibility. Rector Giovanna Iannantuoni outlined her vision for the young Milanese university, which has just celebrated its 25th anniversary. A University that has opened up to the socio-economic context and the territory, not only through the economic valorisation of research, but also through initiatives with a socio-cultural, educational and health value.

In addition to the Mayor of Milan, Giuseppe Sala, and Alessandro Fermi, Councillor for Universities, Research and Innovation for the Lombardy Region, Luca Motto, President of the University's Student Council, and Roberto Manera, representative of the technical and administrative staff in the Academic Senate, also spoke during the ceremony.

The ceremony concluded with the lectio magistralis "Knowledge: an eco-friendly route to confidence and contentment" by Adrian Hayday, Group Leader of the Francis Crick Institute and "Kay Glendinning" Professor of the Peter Gorer Department of Immunobiology at King's College London.

We are taking care of the future
