Petrosino, Sicily - September 2025 - The University of Milano-Bicocca, as part of the European Universities Alliance INVEST, announces the successful conclusion of the MEDEA Summer School: Mediterranean Diet, Biodiversity and Functional Food.
Held from 15 to 20 September 2025 in the scenic town of Petrosino, the Summer School brought together students, academics and professionals from INVEST partner universities, alongside representatives from the local private sector, including producers of wine, cheese, and olive oil.
The Summer School combined an online preparatory phase starting on 24 June 2025 with a hands-on on-site phase in Sicily. Participants engaged in lectures, workshops, and interactive activities designed to explore:
- The health benefits of the Mediterranean diet
- Environmental and food sustainability
- Agricultural and natural biodiversity
- Innovation in functional foods
The Summer School offered a unique opportunity to combine academic study, international networking, and cultural immersion, encouraging participants to reflect on the relationship between the environment, nutrition, and human well-being.
