INVEST Summer School 2026 in Greece: “BS²R: Building Smart & Sustainable Regions”

The University of Milano-Bicocca opens the call for applications to participate in the INVEST Summer School 2026 “BS²R: Building Smart & Sustainable Regions,” organized as part of the European Universities Initiative – INVEST (INnoVations of REgional Sustainability: European UniversiTy Alliance).

The Summer School is coordinated by the University of Thessaly and will take place in two phases:

  • Online phase: May 18 – June 26, 2026
  • On-site phase (in Thessaloniki): June 29 – July 3, 2026

The program offers an interdisciplinary perspective on regional development, with a particular focus on the intersection of digital innovation and environmental management.

The Summer School is structured around the following modules:

  • Regional Resilience and Digital Transition – using smart tools and artificial intelligence to address regional challenges
  • Energy and Natural Resources Management – environmental governance, energy communities, sustainable buildings, and circular economy practices
  • Sustainable Food Systems – sustainability in nutrition and innovative strategies to reduce food waste
  • Education as a Catalyst – the role of universities as innovation hubs and the development of skills for a sustainable transition

Participants are encouraged to propose additional relevant topics, contributing to the co-creation of a dynamic program that integrates theory and practical applications.

The program focuses on the analysis and application of innovative tools for sustainable regional planning and management, combining theory, case studies, and practical activities.

Participation may grant 3 ECTS.
Travel and accommodation costs will be covered by the INVEST project.

Students from University of Milano-Bicocca enrolled in the 2025/2026 academic year can apply if they are:

  • 3rd-year Bachelor’s degree students
  • 4th or 5th-year single-cycle Master’s degree students
  • 1st or 2nd-year Master’s degree students

A B2 level of English is required.
