INVEST Summer School 2025: Applications Open for "MEDEA – Mediterranean Diet, Biodiversity and Functional Food"
The University of Milano-Bicocca, within the framework of the European Universities Initiative – INVEST, is pleased to announce the opening of applications for the 2025 Summer School "MEDEA – Mediterranean Diet, Biodiversity and Functional Food". This is a unique educational opportunity combining academic learning, international experience, and in-depth exploration of current issues such as nutrition, health, and sustainability.
Program Structure
The MEDEA Summer School is divided into two phases:
- Online phase: starting on June 24, 2025, featuring introductory activities and key thematic overviews.
- On-site phase: from September 15 to 20, 2025, held in the picturesque town of Marsala, Sicily.
Target Audience
The program is open to students enrolled in the following degree programs at the University of Milano-Bicocca:
- Single-cycle Master’s Degree in Medicine and Surgery (both in Italian and English)
- Master’s Degree in Medical Biotechnology
- Master’s Degree in Biology
- Bachelor’s Degree in Biotechnology
- Bachelor’s Degree in Biology
Content and Objectives
Conducted entirely in English, the MEDEA Summer School offers 3 ECTS credits and will address key topics such as:
- The Mediterranean diet and its health implications
- Environmental and food sustainability
- Agricultural and natural biodiversity
- Functional foods and innovation in the nutrition sector
This is an opportunity to deepen the understanding of the relationship between environment, nutrition, and well-being, through a multidisciplinary and international lens.
Costs and Deadlines
Thanks to the support of the INVEST project, all travel and accommodation expenses are fully covered, making this a highly accessible and inclusive experience.
