INVEST Alliance at EAIE 2025: Forward-Looking Education

The European University Alliance INVEST took part in the EAIE 2025 Conference and Exhibition in Gothenburg, one of the most important international gatherings for higher education professionals. Among the highlights was the INVEST booth session dedicated to “Forward-Looking Education”, a theme led by the University of Milano-Bicocca as coordinator of Work Package 5 (WP5).

WP5 focuses on reshaping higher education to anticipate societal and labour market needs through three core areas:

1. Developing a common Open Badge certification system (Micro-Credentials)
2. Promoting interdisciplinary collaboration in doctoral-level education
3. Defining institutional lifelong learning strategies and practices

Highlights from Work Package 5 (WP5):

• Micro-Credentials: Development of the INVEST Open Badge Toolkit (Dec 2025) and pilot programmes launching in 2026–27.

• Doctoral Education: 34 transversal courses starting in 2025–26, with Cotutelle agreements and double degree PhD programmes planned from 2026.

• Lifelong Learning: A strategic framework launched in 2025, with new training programmes, recognition of prior learning, and learner-centred courses to follow.

These initiatives aim to build a flexible, inclusive, and innovative education model that equips students and professionals for the challenges of the future.
