Registrations are now open for the second edition of the workshop “Coral Bleaching Automated Stress System (CBASS) in the Maldives”, which will take place from 24 November to 2 December 2025 at the MaRHE Centre of the University of Milano‑Bicocca (Magoodhoo, Faafu Atoll, Maldives).
The workshop, organised in collaboration with the University of Konstanz (Germany) and in particular with Professor Christian Voolstra, President of the International Coral Reef Society, offers an exceptional opportunity to gain hands-on experience with CBASS – one of the most widely used, rapid, and standardised systems for assessing coral tolerance to the high temperatures that cause bleaching.
The nine‑day programme includes classroom lectures, training sessions, practical work with the CBASS system, and field activities, such as diving excursions on the coral reefs surrounding the island.
The workshop is open to master's and PhD students, early‑career scientists, experienced researchers, and professionals with diving certification.
Registration closes on 17 September 2025 and places are limited.
