The annual award, established in 2005, recognises foreign translators, writers and publishers.
The 17th Special Book Award of China honoured fifteen foreign individuals who, as translators, writers and publishers, have excelled in presenting China's socio-cultural dynamics through books, promoting cultural exchange and mutual understanding.
Among the 2024 winners was Professor Silvia Pozzi, Professor of Chinese Language and Literature at the Department of Human Sciences for Education "Riccardo Massa" and President of the Intercultural Communication degree programme at the University of Milano-Bicocca.
While covering a wide range of categories, Professor Pozzi's main focus is the translation of contemporary literature. Her works of translation have been recognized with numerous international literary awards.
The award ceremony, which preceded the Beijing International Book Fair, took place in Beijing on 18 June. Established in 2005, the prize is awarded annually and is organised by the State Administration of Press and Publication of China.
