FOSSATI MATTEO
Biography
Matteo Fossati is Associate Professor of Astronomy and Astrophysics at the department of Physics "G.Occhialini". He obtained the PhD with distinction at the Ludwig-Maximilians University of Munich (Germany) and at the Max Planck Institut for Extraterrestrial Physics. His thesis focussed on the role of the environment on the star formation activity of galaxies at redshift ~1-2 and is entitled "Environmentally driven suppression of star formation in galaxies over the last 10 billion years". After taking postdoctoral research positions in Germany and the United Kingdom he moved back to Italy at the University of Milano-Bicocca. His research covers the formation and evolution of galaxies across cosmic time as a function of the local environment and of the circum-galactic gas. He is member (with leadership roles) of several international collaborations including Euclid, WEAVE, VESTIGE and KMOS3D.
