Biography

Marco Viviani is an Associate Professor at the University of Milano-Bicocca / Department of Informatics, Systems, and Communication (DISCo), focusing on topics related to the retrieval and analysis of data and information in the digital online ecosystem.

He earned both his degree and PhD in Computer Science from the University of Milan (La Statale).

In 2009, he was a postdoctoral researcher for one year at the Université de Bourgogne / Le2i (Dijon, France). In 2010, he was awarded a two-year postdoctoral research fellowship at the Institut National des Sciences Appliquées / LIRIS (Lyon, France). From 2011 to 2013, he held a two-year research grant at the University of Insubria / DiSTA (Varese, Italy).

He is an Associate Editor of the journals Social Network Analysis and Mining and Frontiers in Artificial Intelligence – Natural Language Processing, Area Editor (Web Intelligence and E-Services) of the International Journal of Computational Intelligence Systems, a member of the editorial board of Online Social Networks and Media, and Guest Editor of several special issues in international journals dedicated to the problem of online “information disorder.”

His main research interests include the analysis and retrieval of data and information online, knowledge extraction and management, social media analysis, social computing, reputation and trust management, user modeling, fuzzy logic, and aggregation operators.

On these topics, he has published numerous research papers in scientific journals and presented contributions at international conferences.
