BADANO LUIGI
Biography
Prof. Luigi Badano, MD, Ph. D. currently serves as a Full Professor of cardiovascular medicine and Coordinator of the Ph. D. program in Public Health at the University of Milano Bicocca (Milan, Italy) and director of the multimodality cardiovascular imaging laboratory at the Istituto Auxologico Italiano, IRCCS, Milan, Italy.
Prof. Badano’s clinical interests include native and prosthetic valvular heart disease and right ventricular and atrial function, with research interests in three-dimensional and deformation imaging echocardiography and cardiac mechanics.
Prof. Badano is a member of the Italian Society of Cardiology, European Society of Cardiology, European Association of Cardiovascular Imaging, American College of Cardiology, and the American Society of Echocardiography (ASE), and a fellow of the European Society of Cardiology and the American College of Cardiology. Prof. Badano is a regular invited speaker at annual ESC, ACC, ASE, and EuroEcho scientific meetings.
He has 347 peer-reviewed publications and authored 9 books about echocardiography and cardiovascular imaging (Cumulative Impact Factor = 1832; 55794 citations; Scopus H-index 77). Prof. Badano served as President of the European Association of Cardiovascular Imaging from 2010 to 2012. He is an honorary member of the Hungarian Society of Cardiology, the Romanian Society of Cardiology, and the Korean Society of Cardiology. He is also an honorary Fellow of the American Society of Echocardiography, the European Association of Cardiovascular Imaging, and the British Society of Echocardiography. In 2013, he was awarded the European Society of Cardiology silver medal for his clinical and research activity and his commitment as President of the European Association of Cardiovascular Imaging.
Prof Badano has been named a Highly Cited Researcher in 2018, 2019, 2020, and 2021 by Clarivate Analytics (Web of Science) for significant influence in Clinical Medicine by publishing multiple papers highly cited by peers over the last decade.
