What is about?
The project "Mentorship in Italian Universities - Youth-to-youth support for the integration of students with different backgrounds" is implemented by the International Organization for Migration (IOM), in coordination with the Ministry of the Interior - Department for Civil Liberties and Immigration.
The pilot phase of the Mentorship initiative –Towards a Network of Inclusive Italian Universities – saw the creation of students committees in 3 Italian universities, Including the University of Milano-Bicocca, followed by a needs assessment and a mapping exercise aimed at outline gaps and strengths of services offered to foreign students. Activities to present the project and individual support activities were also organized. The project has now grown and currently involves a network of 10 inclusive universities: Università di Roma La Sapienza, Università degli Studi di Padova, Università di Napoli L’Orientale, Università di Pisa, Università degli Studi di Bari Aldo Moro, Università degli Studi di Torino, Università di Milano Bicocca, Università di degli Studi di Sassari, Università degli Studi di Palermo.
On the basis of previous project experiences, useful materials and guidelines have been developed to support the creation of mentorship schemes in academic contexts.
The Mentorship project goals
