Research

RESERCH TOPICS. GV’s research activity is mainly concerned with neuropsychology, namely the investigation of cognitive and motivational emotional disorders, associated with brain lesions and neurological diseases. Research concerns also increase or decrease or modulation of performance brought temporarily about by non-invasive brain stimulation (NIBS: TMS, tDCS) in neurologically unimpaired participants, and in patients. This research approach has both heuristic, concerning the functional and the neural architecture of the mind, and diagnostic and rehabilitation aims in brain-damaged patients. Main research themes concern:

-          Disorders of spatial cognition.

-           Unilateral spatial neglect and related disorders.

-           Main methods employed to modulate and improve the syndrome of spatial neglect, and to modulate spatial behavior in neurologically unimpaired participants (prism adaptation, NIBS).

-               Movement planning and execution.

-               The functions of the parietal lobe.

-               The relationships between homeostasis and spatial cognition.

-               History of Italian neuropsychology.

-               Methods in neuropsychology.
