Biography

Federica Pallavicini (Ph.D.) is a psychologist with experience in the study of advanced technologies (with a focus on virtual reality and video games) for psychological well-being and in training.  Her main areas of research are characterized by strong interdisciplinarity and are especially related to design processes for virtual reality experiences and "game-based" psychological training and support programs.

After graduating with a master's degree in Clinical Psychology - obtained in 2008 at the San Raffaele Hospital in Milan with a grade of 110 cum laude - from 2009 to 2014 she was a young researcher at the ATNP-Lab (Applied Technology for Neuro-Psychology Lab) of the Istituto Auxologico Italiano in Milan. In 2013 she obtained her Ph.D. in Education and Communication Sciences at the University of Milan-Bicocca, where she has been a Type B Fixed-Term Researcher (RTD-B) since 2021. .

He has taught and collaborated at major companies including Leonardo - Finmeccanica Airborne & Space Solution, Business School Sole 24 Ore, Istituto Europeo di Design (IED), TXT e-solution, and Barilla.

In 2018 he received the Young Talents Award of the University of Milano-Bicocca, made under the patronage of the Accademia Nazionale dei Lincei Edition for relevant contributions to the use of virtual reality for stress management. Since 2020 she is responsible for the project "MIND-VR" (www.mind-vr.com) selected within the second edition of the #BiUnicrowd call promoted by the University of Milano-Bicocca in collaboration with Produzione dal Basso.

She is the author of the book "Psychology of Virtual Reality" (Mondadori University, 2020) and of 55 scientific publications that appeared in prestigious international journals, including Journal of Medical Internet Research, Cyberpsychology, Behavior, and Social Networking.
