Biography

I obtained a master degree in Physics from the University of Lecce (now University of Salento) in 2005 and a PhD in Physics from the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia in 2009 with a thesis on electronic and magnetic properties of molecular magnets deposited on surfaces for ultra high-density data storage under the supervision of Prof. U. Del Pennino.

In 2009 I joined the group of Prof. J. van Slageren at the University of Nottingham as research associate and worked on a EPSRC project on magneto-structural studies of molecular magnets with high magnetic anisotropy mainly by SQUID and CW electron spin resonance (ESR) techniques at conventional and high frequencies (sub-THz).

In 2010 I obtained a personal Marie-Curie fellowship for the study of magnetic anisotropy and spin dynamics in magnetic nanoparticles and magnetically doped quantum dots (QDs). During this period I conducted experiments at the Universities of Zaragoza and Stuttgart, the EPSRC multifrequency EPR national facility of the University of Manchester (UK) and the IFW Leibniz Institute of Dresden.

In 2012 I moved to the University for Manchester and joined the molecular magnet’s group led by Prof. R. W. Winpenny, Prof. E. McInnes and Prof. D. Collisons where I specialized in state-of-the-art pulsed-ESR techniques and worked on an EPSRC project in collaboration with Prof. A. Ardavan (University of Oxford) on coherent manipulation of multipartite molecular spin-qubits.

From 2013 to 2017 I worked as research associate in the group of Prof. A. Patane’ and Dr L. Turyanska at Nottingham on a Leverhulme Trust grant to study the magnetic properties of IV-VI quantum dots heavily and singly doped with transition metal ions for MRI, sensing and quantum computing applications.

In May 2017 I moved to the University of Linköping (Sweden) as förste forskningsinjeniör in the SIMARC centre and conducted research on organic and inorganic solar cells mainly by optically detected magnetic resonance methods to understand the spin-dependent processes responsible for losses in solar energy conversion.

Currently I work on electron spin resonance of novel nanomaterials for quantum technologies.
