GASPANI FABIO

Fabio Gaspani, PhD in Sociology and Methodology of Social Research, is Assistant Professor (tenure-track) in the Department of Sociology and Social Research at the University of Milano-Bicocca.

In 2022, he obtained the National Scientific Qualification as Associate Professor in General Sociology (GSPS-05/A).

He was Visiting scholar in the Department of Social Work and Social Care at the University of Sussex (2013) and in the Centre Max Weber at the Université Lumière Lyon 2 (2020).

He was Adjunct Professor of Quantitative Methods for Social Research in the Master’s Degree Programme in Economics and Business Management at the University of Pavia (a.y. 2022/23).

He taught Research Methodology for Services and the Third Sector in the Master's Degree Programme in Programming and Management of Political and Social Services (a.y. 2023/24) and Qualitative Research Methods in the Bachelor's Degree Programme in Sociology (a.y. 2024/25). He teaches Sociological Theories and Social Change in the Bachelor's Degree Programme in Sociology (since a.y. 2025/26) and Sociology of Risk in the Master's Degree Programme in Security, Deviance and Risk Management (since a.y. 2023/24) at the University of Milano-Bicocca.

He is a member of the Teaching Board of the PhD Programme in Analysis of Social and Economic Processes (ASEP) at the University of Milano-Bicocca, where he teaches Theorising in Social Sciences and Writing for Social Scientists.

He is a member of the Scientific Board of the Methodology Section of the Italian Association of Sociology (AIS) (triennia 2022-2024 and 2025-2027).

He is a member of the Editorial Board of the scientific journal Sociologia Italiana - AIS Journal of Sociology.

He is a member of the Academic Senate of the University of Milano-Bicocca (triennium 2024-2027).

His main research interests include: life courses and transitions; working conditions and processes in the service sector; risk and society; methodology of social research; secondary analysis of qualitative data.
