University of Milano-Bicocca
Agorà Building U6, Room 21 – Piazza dell’Ateneo Nuovo 1, Milan
The University of Milano-Bicocca, in collaboration with GlobalWafers MEMC, is organizing the Silicon Day on the afternoons of February 4 and 5 in room U6-21. This is a workshop open to the entire university community, during which MEMC experts will present the latest methodologies for the preparation and characterization of silicon.
Silicon has been and continues to be the cornerstone of microelectronics thanks to its abundance, low cost, and electronic properties that enable the development of advanced CMOS circuits capable of integrating billions of transistors on a single chip. Silicon technology underpins the fabrication of a wide range of devices—from microprocessors and sensors to photovoltaic cells—whose efficiencies are the result of decades of refinement of manufacturing processes that ensure unparalleled scalability and reliability.
The Silicon Day therefore offers students, PhD candidates, and postdoctoral researchers at the university a unique opportunity to deepen their understanding of silicon by connecting fundamental scientific concepts with silicon applications in modern microelectronic technologies. This knowledge can open doors to some of the most in-demand career paths in the semiconductor field, from silicon photonics to quantum devices, from AI hardware to renewable energy technologies.
The workshop will be held in English.
