Apprenticeship in higher education

The Advanced Apprenticeship PhD allows you to combine employment in the Company with a graduate training and research contract and enrolment in a PhD course in order to develop a research project of common interest to the University and the Company. This type of contract is reserved for those who have not yet reached the age of 30 at the time of recruitment. The training path of the doctoral student is agreed between University and Company and is divided into periods of internal training at the Company and periods of external training at Bicocca. The duration of the apprenticeship contract cannot be shorter than that of the doctoral course of reference. The doctoral student is followed by two tutors, one from the university and one from the company.

How

 the Company must contact the Doctoral School office and/or the Coordinator of the Doctoral Course of interest
  • must send a letter of intent by December
  • the agreement must be signed by April
The Sponsor may participate as an external member of the admission exam committee.
 
The Individual Training Plan containing a brief description of the project, the skills to be acquired and the training path must be attached to the agreement. The Company may participate as an external member of the admission exam committee.

How much does it cost?

Starting from the second year of the doctoral programme, the Company must pay the research budget, equal to no less than 10% of the annual grant amount, i.e. no less than €1,623.85. The doctoral student must pay, when registering and for the following years of study, a sum of €156.00 consisting of stamp duty and the regional tax for the right to study.
