Biography
I am full Professor in Paleontology and Paleoecology and I'm working in marine Geology and climate changes. Reefs and other marine bioconstructions, as geo-historical structures, are the focus of my research. I'm expert in the taxonomy, ecology and biomineralization of calcareous algae, living and fossils, that were the subject of my doctoral thesis. I use the paleontological methods for the reconstruction of the recent environmental history of the marine shelf environments, through the interpretation of the past benthic associations recorded in sediments and build-ups. I'm conducting scientific investigations on the potential impacts of Ocean Alkalinity Enhancement, an innovative strategy for atmospheric CO2 removal and climate change mitigation.
