Our university has Campus agreements for the supply of educational and scientific software to employees and students enrolled in our courses, with the possibility of installing them on personal computers as well.
These agreements allow for the installation of important and advanced productivity and research tools, legally and with no need to purchase personal licenses.
Software use is permitted solely for academic purposes of teaching and research; licenses for professional, profit-oriented, or third-party purposes are not allowed
Microsoft 365
UNIMIB users can freely access the Microsoft 365 suite
This initiative benefits regularly enrolled students, teaching, and administrative staff at the University of Milano-Bicocca throughout the duration of the agreement and until the end of their study or work path.
The assigned licenses are A3 licenses including
- Word
- Excel
- PowerPoint
- Outlook
- OneDrive
- Teams
with the possibility of installing Office on a maximum of 5 devices (PCs, Macs, or mobile devices).
Users with both @campus and @unimib accounts must use the @campus account.
A1 licenses are assigned to
- external collaborators
- scholarship holders
- adjunct professors.
A1 licenses include Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook (in web mode), as well as OneDrive and Teams. It grants the right to download and install Office on a maximum of 5 mobile devices (excluding PCs).

You can directly access Microsoft office 365 website using your university credentials.
Students encountering an “account locked” error or login issues should try changing their password, wait at least 30 minutes, and then attempt login again.

Microsoft Azure dev tools for teaching
Azure Dev Tools for Teaching is a Microsoft program that provides access to Microsoft software for learning, teaching, and research purposes. The program allows students, teachers, and researchers to freely access professional Microsoft development tools, platforms, and servers in labs, classrooms, and personal computers for learning and research.
The platform is accessible using your university credentials at the following page: Azure Dev Tools for Teaching.
Please note that the software can only be used for research and study purposes and profit-oriented use is not allowed.
ChemDraw
ChemDraw is a software package for drawing chemical structures, widely considered a standard in the scientific world.
Get the software
You can download the software and documentation by accessing and registering on the CambridgeSoft website in the section reserved for the university.
The link is available in our intranet, and you need your university credentials for both websites.

Campus License

The use of the software, for authorized installations, is allowed only for academic and research purposes. Any other use of licenses for professional, profit-oriented purposes towards third parties is not allowed.

ESRI GIS
ESRI GIS is a Geographic Information System (GIS) that allows for the acquisition, organization, analysis, and visualization of geographical information. With GIS, you can view, understand, and query spatial databases to reveal relationships in the form of maps, reports, and charts.
The software is already available for students.
Our university has activated a special agreement for the use and maintenance (updates and technical support) of Esri’s ArcMap GIS software in the educational context.

Origin Professional
Origin Professional is an advanced software for technical data analysis and scientific graphics. It caters to all data analysis needs with tools for advanced statistics, regression, nonlinear curve analysis, signal processing, image processing, peak analysis, and 2D/3D graphs.

Matlab e Simulink
MATLAB is a programming environment for algorithm development, data analysis, visualization, and numerical analysis.
Simulink is a graphical environment for simulation and model-based design of multidomain dynamic systems, including embedded systems.
MathWorks provides approximately 100 additional products for specialized tasks such as data analysis and image processing.
The license also includes:
- Self-paced and interactive online courses to learn how to use MATLAB and Simulink in various application areas.
- MATLAB Online for direct access to MATLAB from a web browser.
- MATLAB Mobile for connecting to MATLAB from your iPhone, iPad, or Android device.
- Teaching resources to enhance the integration of educational material with MATLAB.
- MATLAB Grader, which allows instructors to create customized and interactive courses and provide immediate feedback to students.
- MATLAB Parallel Server, which enables prototyping, debugging, and distribution of applications to clusters without recoding.

- open the MATLAB Portal.
- select the language you want to use for the portal
- Click on “Sign in to get started” under the “Get MATLAB and Simulink” section.
- Log in to your MathWorks account associated with your university email address or create one if needed (you may need to log in with your university credentials first).
- Click “Download” to download the latest release (you can also download previous releases from here).
- Choose a supported platform and download the installer.

The Campus License (Total Academic Headcount Licenses - Campus Option) allows unlimited installation of the base Matlab package and all subscribed optional modules on:

The annual Campus contractual formula also includes the distribution of updates (software, manuals, technical documentation) as soon as they are released by the manufacturer, technical support, and help desk assistance for the software.
Mathematica
Mathematica is a powerful tool for technical-scientific calculation, modeling, simulation, visualization, and development. It is also one of the most widely used software in research and education.
The Campus licensing formula also includes software updates distribution, technical support, and help desk services.
Web Seminars
Students and faculty members can participate in free introductory web seminars in Italian on how to use the software.

IBM SPSS
IBM SPSS provides solutions for harnessing the informational and predictive potential of data to enhance performance and make highly informed decisions.
The software can be installed and used even outside university facilities, exclusively by regularly enrolled students participating in courses that require its use, and strictly for educational purposes.
Any teacher interested in distributing SPSS licenses to their students must contact and ask the IT department.
Students can download the software from a reserved site by following the instructions in the download area on the page servizi.campus.unimib.it.
License
The contractual formula extending the Campus contract to students, specifically designed for our university, allows the installation of SPSS software on students' PCs who are regularly enrolled in courses that require its use. The limitations of the student extension are as follows:
- the software can be installed and used, even outside university facilities, exclusively by regularly enrolled students participating in courses and strictly for educational purposes.
- students must commit to uninstall the SPSS software at the end of the course

Operationally, SPSS will issue a specific code to the university IT Area, valid for a certain number of licenses to be distributed to students, based on individual requests that include the following information regarding software usage:
- Number of requested licenses
- Academic year
- Number of enrolled students
- Course(s) of instruction
- Start-end dates of the course
- Faculty affiliation
- The faculty member(s) committing to licenses management and distribution to students, adhering to the contract mentioned above

NVivo
NVivo (Non-numerical Unstructured Data Indexing, Searching and Theorizing Vivo) is a program designed for qualitative analysis and mixed method. NVivo provides valuable assistance in managing, modeling, and making sense of unstructured heterogeneous information (such as web pages, online PDFs, Facebook posts, Twitter discussions and tweets, social media data, memos, photos, Evernote web clips, audio files, videos, digital images, Word documents, PDFs, rich text, etc.).
It is used to collect, structure, classify, and group data, as well as explore sources and present results throughout the entire analysis process.

If you need a software not in this page you can submit a request, providing documentation regarding the value of a campus licence in terms of diffusion, impact, and economic advantage. Our IT staff will evaluate the request.
If the request is considered not worth for a campus license, the software can be purchased directly by the department that made the request, providing notification to the IT staff.
