Aula Marchetti, Atlas Building (ex U1)
University of Milan-Bicocca
Presence and remote event
The meeting "Lake Talks - The science of lakes: a journey around the globe" is an opportunity to talk about lakes and science and sustainable management of surface waters, to exchange ideas on the past, present and future of aquatic sciences.
Participants will include some of the most eminent scientists who have shaped the history of limnology (the study of inland waters) and are contributing to its advancement. Guest speaker will be Professor Emeritus Charles Goldman (University of California, Davis - USA), considered the godfather of limnology, whose pioneering research, including primary productivity and limiting factors for algal growth, and work in environments such as Lake Tahoe and Castle Lake have left their mark on limnology and beyond.
Guest speakers include Sudeep Chandra, Full Professor at the University of Nevada-Reno (USA) and Director of the Global Water Center, who will present his research on the Mekong River Basin in Cambodia, and Dörthe Müller-Navarra from the University of Hamburg (Germany), who will talk about long-term research on the Plußsee in Germany, providing a global perspective on freshwater systems.
This will be followed by an exchange of ideas and refreshments.
The event is open to students, PhD students, postdocs and researchers. To participate (in person or remotely), you must register in advance. It will be possible to follow the event remotely via WebEx.
