The Master’s Degree in Mathematics is classified in Class LM-40. It takes two yars to be completed. To achieve the title, a Student gets 120 university credits (CFU). There are 10 exams for the acquisition of 80 CFU. The remaining credits will be acquired through other training activities such as IT and telematics skills (1 credit) and the final exam (39 credits). Indicatively, the examinations scheduled are 8 in the first year 2 in the second year. To be admitted to the Master Degree Program, students must have a Bachelor's Degree or a three-year University Diploma, or a degree obtained abroad, recognized as suitable. A commission, specifically appointed by the Didactic Coordination Council, will evaluate the suitability of the candidates, based on the documentation presented and possibly on an interview. The possession of a degree in Mathematics with a score of at least 90/110 is sufficient to certify the fulfillment of the curricular requirements and the adequacy of personal preparation.
The title awarded at the end of the cycle is the Degree (Magistrale) in Mathematics. The title allows access to second level Masters and PhD programs. The Degree Program aims to provide a solid cultural and methodological preparation in the fundamental fields of mathematics (analysis, algebra, geometry, probability, mathematical physics, numerical analysis) in view of their use in specialist areas of both theoretical and applicative nature.
This will allow graduates to selectively take a path to mathematical research, pure or applied, and to assume roles of high responsibility in advanced scientific research projects, in the construction and computational development of mathematical models in different fields (e.g. scientific, environmental, health fields, industrial, financial, as well as services and public administration); in schools and research institutions, offices, studies and, in general, in all companies for which the modeling of physical phenomena is relevant. The peculiar characteristics of his training will open, finally, to the graduate in the Master's Degree in Mathematics the opportunity to pursue professional careers in areas other than scientific-technological.
