The Bachelor’s Degree in Biomedical Laboratory techniques (qualification required for the profession of Biomedical Laboratory technician) belongs to the Class of Degrees in Technical Healthcare Professions (L/SNT3), has a duration of three years and involves the acquisition of 180 university study credits (CFUs) leading to the award of the degree. There are 16 exams which are worth a total of 108 CFUs. The remaining credits will be obtained  through other educational activities: traineeships, seminars, professional workshops and the final exam. The final exam is equivalent to the value of the state exam required for access to the profession.

Indicatively, the exams are divided as follows: six in the first year, seven in the second and three in the third.
Admission to the course of study occurs via a scheduled national process, with a ranking produced on the basis of a national admission test.

The official language of the course is Italian.

At the end of the course, the qualification of Degree in Biomedical Laboratory techniques (qualification required for the profession of Biomedical Laboratory technician) is issued.
The qualification enables access to first-level postgraduate programmes, specialist training courses, Class LM/SNT3 Master’s Degree courses in Technical Healthcare Profession Sciences without study deficits and other classes launched at the University of Milano-Bicocca or at other universities in accordance with the procedures set out in their respective regulations.
The Degree intends to provide solid cultural and methodological preparation in laboratory diagnostics in the fields of Clinical Biochemistry, Clinical Molecular Biology, Microbiology, Haematology, Anatomy and Pathology, Toxicology, Blood Transfusion, Veterinary Practice and Biomedical Research.

In these fields, the Degree provides graduates with solid technical and practical skills. The Degree also trains professional figures who fit well into the current complex health and social care situation, with knowledge of Psychology, Occupational Medicine, Radiation Protection, Business Organisation, Healthcare Planning, Hygiene, Ethics and Professional Deontology.
